Level 1 Hot Pot ITS with Jo Boring
April 23 & 24, 2016
Tribal Bellies Studio is excited to be hosting Jo of the Lunachix for a weekend of Hot Pot ITS!!
Hot Pot ITS is a combination-based form of improvisational dance created by Amy Sigil. This energetic dance is all about teamwork, having fun and being actively engaged in the moment. ITS relies on a shared vocabulary of movements, each initiated by a distinct cue movement. The leader initiates the cue movement, then a short, choreographed combination, or combo, is performed. These combos can be done in any order, and none of the dancers know ahead of time which movements the leader will cue next.
Over this weekend, Jo will be sharing the ENTIRE Level 1 Hot Pot vocabulary, which will include both fast and slow combinations! Join us for the entire weekend to cover all of level 1 or for a single workshop to get a little taste of the Hot Pot format... no matter how you do it, you're in for a ton of fun!!!

Jo is a certified Hot Pot ITS instructor, and is happy to share her love of improvisational tribal style with you! Jo started belly dancing in 2003 in Rochester, NY with the troupe Sahara Shimmer before relocating to the Oneonta area. Jo was a student of Caroline Huxtable, and proud member of B3 Belly Dance from 2007 through early 2015. B3 Belly Dance performed throughout the northeast, and membership exposed Jo to several different teachers and styles. Amy Sigil’s Hot Pot ITS quickly became a favorite (so much fun!) and Jo traveled to Hot Pot Studios in Sacramento to become certified. Jo currently directs the Lunachix, a wonderfully eclectic assemblage of women, who perform both choreographed dances as well as improvisational tribal style. Jo teaches regular ITS classes in Oneonta, NY as well as workshops anywhere people are ready to learn ITS!
