Tribal Bellies Studio is excited to be hosting a day with Despina for a bit of ATS action!!
  • ATS® - Keeping it "Classic"  SOLD OUT!!!
    (Open Level) - 10:00am-12:30pm
    A break down of posture, basic arm positions, Volume 1 Classic basic slow/fast movement and classic group formations (duets, trios & quads). Time permitting we will be spicing things up by adding a tad of embellishments and layering to the basics. This workshop will move rather quickly. Bring lots of water, a yoga mat and finger cymbals. ***Bring a notebook, you will be leaving with a number of Despina's "drills that thrill" that will help deepen your practice.​
  • Despina's ATS® Inspired Advanced Combos w/ Finger Cymbals!
    (Advanced)​ - 1:30pm-4:00pm
    Fabulous combos with complex finger cymbal patterns that can be performed in group formations or as a soloist. This is a fast pace workshop that requires experience in tribal belly dance and finger cymbals. Combinations will include some vocabulary from Volume 9. This class will spice up your group performances and keep your audience excited. ***Extra bonus Despina's spin technique break down and her very own fast barrel turn combo.​​​​​​​​​​​​​

About Despina:
​Debbie Despina Cartsos was born in the US and raised in Athens, Greece where she was exposed to belly dance from a young age. The appreciation of the music she grew up with at home, as well as her love for Middle Eastern and Balkan music, dance, and folkloric costuming awakened her passion to study belly dance. In 2005, Despina began studying American Tribal Style® belly dance with Mimi Fontana. In 2012 she began studying with Irina Bellyrina who introduced her to the Suhaila and Jamila Salimpour formats. In 2014 she obtained her Jamila Level 1 certification, 2015 she obtained her ATS® Belly Dance Teacher Training and was granted her Sister Studio status from FatChanceBellyDance®.


Despina is a founding member of Manhattan Tribal. She currently teaches, dances and co-directs Belly Sol with Irina Bellyrina, the founder of Belly Sol. She co-teaches with her ATS® dance partner Kate Read and also dances as a soloist. She is passionate about continuing her education as a dancer in the belly dance world. She loves dancing with
​finger cymbals, swords, baskets and designing dancewear for her own company D.Webb Designs!
