Two Incredible Workshops with the Co-Founder of the Bellyqueen School, Kaeshi Chai

As part of the festivities for this year’s show, Tribal Bellies is once again honored to bring in a guest instructor for our studio. This year it is none other than the co-founder of the Bellyqueen school in New York, Kaeshi Chai! While visiting the east coast from California, she will be gracing us by performing in that evening’s show, and Kaeshi will also be teaching two workshops that day.
First up is “Unleash Your Inner Beast and Goddess”
This workshop will teach you how to add more emotion into your dance. Learn how the same movement can have multiple meanings based on how you present yourself. The beast is our power, rage, grief and desires. The Goddess is our compassion, serenity, love and joy. Explore these light and dark archetypes that live within yourself with Kaeshi Chai in a safe environment by varying your intent, gaze, posture, muscle control and type of movements. You will also be introduced to Lecoq, Dell'Arte, Laban and Playback physical theatre techniques.
Next up is “Innovative Veil”
Looking to add more variety to your veil performances? Learn how you can use a veil for more than just floating and framing. You will learn some of Kaeshi’s favorite flourishes, throws, holds, binds, snaps, wraps and combinations. By the end of this workshop your veil will become a tool for transformation. (Please bring a 3 yard veil. We will try to have a few spares on hand just in case but cannot guarantee we’d have extras.)

Kaeshi Chai is a bi-coastal (CA+NYC) educator, dancer, choreographer, designer, producer and director whose life mission is to serve our precious planet and empower others through the vehicle of art. She co-founded PURE Globe, an international community focused on healing and social change, the Bellyqueen company and school, as well as Djam NYC shows featuring live music and dance. She has taught / performed in 48 states and 39 countries and is an alumni member of the Bellydance Superstars, Bellydance Evolution, Bella Gaia (Beautiful Earth) and Spector Dance. As a producer, Kaeshi has organized over 600 events (shows, tours, conferences). Kaeshi holds multiple certifications in movement (dance, fitness, pilates, yoga), created the Bellyqueen Teacher Training program and graduated with honors in a degree in Design from the University of Technology, Sydney.
